La Fortuna / Arenal Volcano
Costa Rica Travel Photos — I don’t make many personal vacation blog posts on here, but I had to share a few photos from our trip to Costa Rica last November! For those that don’t know, Jacob and I love to travel. We decided when we got married that we wanted to travel somewhere new every year. (Although the current global pandemic might stop us from doing that this year.) We went to Costa Rica in November of 2019 for about 9 days and traveled to two different regions. We flew into San Jose, rented a car (Costa Rica is not a country that we’d recommend driving in so if we did this again we wouldn’t rent a car.)
The first place we drove to was La Fortuna / Arenal. We stayed at Niru Rainforest Suites. Our stay here was amazing and would stay here again in a heartbeat! We had the most amazing view of the Arenal volcano (when it wasn’t foggy) and felt like the only people on the property. There were only 8 suites to begin with, plus we visited during rainy season so not many other travelers were there. They brought us a basket of breakfast (fresh fruit, juice, and bread) every morning along with amazing coffee. Our favorite part of our time here were these mornings… beautiful views, perfect weather, and a delicious breakfast. In the La Fortuna area, we visited the La Fortuna waterfall, the Mistico Arenal Hanging Bridges Park, and The Springs Resort & Spa. (Hot Springs). We loved all of these activities and views and wouldn’t have changed a thing!
Manuel Antonio National Park
Our second area that we visited in Costa Rica was Manuel Antonio National Park. We stayed at La Mariposa Hotel and upgraded to an ocean view room (totally worth it!) We had a large corner balcony that faced the national park which also came with amazing sunset views! The hotel provides a good breakfast with your stay and has a relaxing infinity pool. Here, we spent a day touring the national park and saw lots of wildlife, including a sloth! Our hotel was walkable to many restaurants and bars so we spent more time going out to some fun places!
We know there is a lot to see in Costa Rica, and maybe we’ll go back and see some other areas someday! But we loved both of the places we visited and would highly recommend them to anyone looking for a vacation full of adventure, lots of wildlife, and amazing views!
