Emily and Jon met at the University of Northern Iowa 4 years ago. They had one class together, but didn’t really start talking until they met at a line dancing bar in Cedar Falls and John asked Emily to dance!
One morning, Jon woke Emily up at 6am the morning because he wanted to go “try a new coffee place.” They got into his jeep and headed for Hudson, Iowa. Halfway there, Jon turned abruptly into a cornfield where they droe down a half gravel-half grass road. He stopped by a creek bend near the edge of the woods and asked Emily to wait in the jeep. He came back to escort Emily through a pre-mowed path in the grass to a platform with two chairs, a table, and some hot coffee… “The Kullen Cafe!” They watched the sun come up while the fog lifted off the water, and spread into the fields. After light conversation and reminiscing about their relationship, Jon stood up, got down on one knee, and asked Emily to be his wife and of course she said, “YES!”
Emily and Jon’s wedding was nothing short of perfect. They were married at Zion Lutheran Church in Des Moines and had their gorgeous reception at the Hilton Garden Inn…
Before the ceremony, Jon and Emily exchanged letters and said a prayer and saved their “first look” for the moment when Emily walked down the aisle.
