After Matt moved to Harlan in the 4th grade, he and Mary rode the same bus to school. By middle school, they started hanging out in the same group of friends. One day, Matt’s best friend, Rob, told Mary that Matt wanted to “ask her out”, which in 8th grade meant that he wanted to sit by her on the bus and stay up late chatting on MSN Messenger. Mary told Rob to report back to Matt and tell him that she thought it would be weird. Later that week at the high school homecoming football game, Mary had a change of heart. She called Rob over and told him that Matt had the green light to ask her out!
Fast forward several years later… it was Christmas day and Matt had given Mary a present, shaped like a clothing box. Inside of the box was a sweater. It wasn’t until Matt said, “I had your initials embroidered on it” when Mary saw there was (what she thought) a mistake on the last initial. She turned toward Matt to see him on one knee and said “Mary, will you let me change your last name? Will you marry me?”
Matt & Mary had a beautiful wedding on July 11th, 2015. The ceremony took place at a church in Harlan and the reception took place at Mary’s family farm. They cleaned out the barn and brought in chairs, tables, a dance floor, and so many gorgeous DIY decorations!
Matt & Mary – it was truly an honor to be a part of and capture your beautiful wedding day! I hope you had an amazing trip to Mexico!
