Pinnacle Club Wedding — Jackie reached out to me just one month before their wedding! She said they were planning a wedding at the Grand Hyatt Hotel downtown and only had a few weeks to plan. They spread the word to all of their friends and family all over the US and Africa, got their vendors together, and pulled it off! These two beautiful souls met through mutual friends from Congo. They had their first date on the Atlantic Ocean shore in Dakar, Senegal under the sky (how romantic!) When I first met Jackie for coffee, I could tell right away what a wonderful person she is. I also knew their wedding would be incredibly special to be a part of and photograph.

Their Wedding at Grand Hyatt Hotel Pinnacle Club

On the morning of their wedding, they were getting ready at the suites on the top floor of the Grand Hyatt Hotel downtown. Talk about a view of the city! Once both Jackie and Roger were ready, we drove separately to City Park for their “first look”. This was very special and definitely one of the highlights from the day. They were both so incredibly happy and giddy! From there, we drove back to the Pinnacle Club at the Grand Hyatt Hotel and started getting ready for the ceremony. They had their ceremony in the corner of the Pinnacle Club, overlooking the city of Denver.

The best part of Jackie and Roger’s day was witnessing all the different African wedding traditions! One of the biggest traditions of Congolese weddings is singing and dancing. During the ceremony, family and friends sang and shouted as both Roger and his mom and Jackie and her mom walked down the aisle. Many guests also played the cowbell! Unfortunately, we didn’t understand a single word of their ceremony since it was all in French. Nonetheless, we could feel how important and special the ceremony was for everyone. I’ve never photographed anything like it!

We took a few family photos and then it was time for the reception in the Pinnacle Club. Another favorite part of their wedding was all the dancing! There wasn’t a single song in English; it was all upbeat African dance songs and the photographer in me was ecstatic to photograph all of these talented people!
