Ryan and Emma first met in 2008 at a church camp in Lamoni, Iowa. Ryan was older than Emma was and he had a girlfriend at the time, so they didn’t talk much. Emma saw him a few other times in the next couple of years, but they didn’t really know each other. Then, in 2010, they met at another church camp at Guthrie Grove Campgrounds. Ryan didn’t remember Emma! He was the lifeguard at the camp all summer, so Emma hung out with him when she counseled a junior camp, he got her number by convincing her to call him so she could hear his Blink-182 ringtone (Nice, Ryan). Ryan wanted to start dating that summer, but Emma was leaving for college in Washington, D.C. and wanted a fresh start. They kept in touch through the year, and the next summer he convinced her!
Exactly 5 years later, on May 24th, 2015, they were married at Guthrie Grove Campgrounds…
