How He Proposed
It was their 7 year anniversary. They planned on going out to dinner that evening, however Colton told Kamaili he had a surprise for her before dinner. As they were driving out of the city, Colton pulled over and said, “This is your surprise.” Kamaili thought the surprise was a cute date with a sunset picnic. Colton pulled out a picnic basket from the trunk. In it was Kamaili’s favorite wine and a delicious cheese board. Colton started playing music on the speaker and brought out some Chinese wish lanterns. He told Kamaili they should make a wish and light it off before they head to dinner. By this time, the sun had just gone down. Kamaili noticed the playlist had changed to their love songs. All of a sudden, Colton was on one knee and had a box open, asking Kamaili to marry him! Of course she said YES!
Their Pagosa Springs Colorado Wedding
Kamaili and Colton rented a VRBO for their wedding ceremony and reception. This has been a popular route that many couples (including my husband and myself) have chosen for their wedding venue. (In fact, I’ve written a little about this option HERE.) They chose a beautiful home in Pagosa Springs, Colorado. Before Kamaili and Colton’s wedding, I had never been to Pagosa Springs… and now I can’t wait to go back! It’s quite a drive from Denver; however it’s so worth it. If you get the chance, take the drive in late September, when the aspens are changing.
They rented a white tent and invited about 50 of their closest friends and family members to celebrate with them on a beautiful September afternoon. They gathered at the back of the home, near the river, for the ceremony. Their daughter, Abrielle, was included in many parts of the ceremony and reception (she gave a toast to her parents, and they shared a dance together!) It was so sweet!
