Sioux City Iowa Wedding | Sommer + Ivan

How They Met
Their story began in 2011. Sommer was a Senior at one high school Ivan was a Junior at another. Attending different schools however, didn’t stop them from meeting each other. They had a mutual group of friends who hung out on a regular basis. Sommer said she will always remember the feeling she got when she first talked to Ivan at a party. She said to herself, “I think I really like this guy.” When he finally messaged her on Facebook and ask for her number, it wasn’t long before they knew they had feelings for each other. On Valentine’s Day in 2012, Ivan showed up at Sommer’s house with a teddy bear and said “We’re dating, okay?”.
The rest just fell into place. After graduating high school, the two of them attended college. Sommer graduated with her degree in nursing and Ivan as an auto technician. In 2015, they decided to move in together and got an apartment in North Sioux City. They lived happily there for the last 3 years, growing more and more in love. They have gone through many hard times and losses, but those hard times have only brought them closer together, and they both knew they would be together forever, through thick and thin.
The Proposal
On the day before Christmas Eve in 2016, Ivan and Sommer woke up to open the gifts they had gotten each other that year. Sommer had one giant present, but she had no idea that what she was about to open was going to change their lives! Sommer opened her gift to find a large stone with writing that said, “Will You Marry Me?” Then she turned around to find Ivan down on one knee. He had tears of joy running down his face, and of course she said YES! Now, seven years later, these two lovebirds got married!
The Wedding
Sioux City Iowa Wedding — I traveled back to Iowa for Sommer and Ivan’s wedding in Sioux City. They had their ceremony at Nativity Church and their reception at Country Celebrations Event Center. Their wedding had a classy vibe with the colors of black, white, and gold. They had a large wedding with 250 people as well as a large bridal party, with 8 of their closest friends on each side! One of my favorite moments of their day was the first look. (Get your tissues ready!)
It was such an honor coming back to photograph their beautiful wedding last September! They have since purchased their first home together, where they will make so many new memories together as husband and wife! Congrats you two!
