Katherine and Eric’s Colorado Backyard Wedding
How They Met
Their fates collided on July 2, 2017 after Katherine’s cousin introduced them. They decided to take a chance, a blind date on a Sunday morning! They met at church, and then ended up watching Germany play Chile in the Confederations Cup Soccer final. According to Eric, it was the “perfect first date”! When Eric first saw Katherine, he thought, “As I saw her walk into the church foyer that morning, I was absolutely floored! My challenge from that point on was to convince her that she would want to spend the rest of her life with me.” Luckily as fate would have it, she did!
How He Proposed
That year, they planned a Thanksgiving trip to Georgia to spend time with Eric’s family. Katherine had pretty much figured out a proposal was coming soon, however she didn’t know when. On the 22nd of November, also known as Katherine’s birthday, Eric made her favorite breakfast – chocolate chip cookies and bacon, and planned their favorite “together event” – tennis. Eric showed up in sweatshirt, tennis shorts, and a rally cap; Katherine in her favorite tennis gear and a pink tutu! (Which she wore for a few photos on their wedding day!)
After the match, they met family and close family friends for lunch. Before sitting down to lunch in their finest tennis attire, they went out to the garden behind the clubhouse for a walk. Earlier that day, Eric’s sister and her friend had secretly decorated an arbor in the garden (of course in Bronco Orange and Blue!) It was there in front of the arbor with tears in his eyes where he got down on one knee. Eric reminded Katherine that he had loved her since the first day and would love her forevermore. Shocked and teary eyed, she said “YES!” The celebration of their engagement ensued and “Team H2” was born!
The Wedding
Katherine and Eric had a large outdoor Colorado backyard wedding full of pink tutus, “H2” tattoos, lots of love, and dancing to Metallica! Their wedding took place in Berthoud, Colorado on June 30th, and even though the stormy weather and dark clouds might’ve scared any other couple from having their wedding outside, these two were calm and just kept saying “it will pass!” Since it was raining, we had to do a large portion of the photos indoors and on the covered back deck, but when it was time for the ceremony, the clouds had cleared and the rain had stopped. It was time for a wedding!
Their colors were shades of blue and a hint of orange (yep, you guessed it! Go Broncos!) and Katherine walked down the aisle to one of her friends playing guitar and singing one of the couple’s favorite songs. Eric was then finally able to turn around and see his bride for the very first time. It was a beautiful ceremony, followed by one of the prettiest sunsets over the Rocky Mountains during their first dances. They had an outdoor barbecue, followed by chocolate chip cookies for dessert instead of cake. They (and their guests!) ended their perfect day dancing and singing to Metallica, wearing their favorite Metallica t-shirts.
Okay, now you’ve read about how cool this couple is and how fun their Colorado backyard wedding was, it’s time for the photos! 😉
