Evergreen Colorado Wedding | Jen + Rusty

How They Met
“Okay, Rusty. If you were able to host a dinner party with 4 of the most interesting people you can think or (alive of dead); who would be on the list?” – Jen
“Fun question! Henery David Thoreau, Bob Marley, myself age 75, and Bill Watterson. Now, Jen. What’s the best compliment you’ve ever received?” – Rusty
“Oh, that’s such a good question! Any time someone gives me a sincere compliment it’s so touching. If I had to pick I would say my mother telling me that I…” – Jen
And that’s how it began. Those were the first messages Jen and Rusty exchanged when they matched each other on Bumble! After three days, they met for coffee at Corvus Coffee Roasters on South Broadway in Denver. Jen was 10 minutes late, and Rusty never let her forget that. 😉 At Corvus Coffee, the fun and excitement from their messaging conversation flowed seamlessly into a face-to-face environment. After a cup of coffee, a cup of tea, and some smiles and laughs, they parted ways saying that it would be nice to see each other again soon. After only four hours, Rusty texted her again. And his overeagerness to reconnect was matched by Jen. Soon after, they met for what they called a “1.5 date”, which was their first full-length date. They went ice skating downtown at the 16th Street Mall followed by a whiskey bar. From there, they started a beautiful journey that led them to Evergreen, Colorado on September 22nd, 2018 where they got married.
The Proposal
Rusty surprised Jen with a hike in Lair O’ the Bear park where they walked along the creek. At the turn around point they stopped by a large rock and Rusty got down on one knee and asked Jen to marry him!
Their Evergreen Colorado Wedding
You might recognize Jen and Rusty from their engagement session blog post. These two put on such a low key yet super fun wedding up in Evergreen! Jen got ready at the church’s parsonage and Rusty got ready at the condos they had rented. (Which is also where all of their bridal party stayed, too! Such a cool idea!) First, they met at Evergreen Lake to see each other for the first time. They wanted to have their first look on a trail where they have spent lots of time together, so it was special to them. After their first look and some fun bridal party photos, it was time for the ceremony! Jen and Rusty got married outside at Evergreen Lutheran Church’s Agape Chapel. They had such a lovely ceremony with about 75 guests followed by an outdoor cocktail hour. The weather was perfect for their Evergreen Colorado Wedding! Jen made her and all of her bridesmaid’s bouquets with flowers from their garden. She wore a simple yet elegant dress from Brilliant Bridal and a hair piece that belonged to her grandmother. After cocktail hour, everyone headed inside for some barbecue and a fun reception!
