Olympic National Park Wedding Photos | Alice + Art
Olympic National Park Wedding Photos by Shea McGrath Photography | Colorado Wedding Photographer
I’m so excited to share Alice and Art’s Olympic National Park wedding photos from this past summer! But first, here is a little bit more about the two of them:
How They Met
A few years ago, Alice moved to Bakersfield from Southern California for work with her daughter. She was completely terrified because they were so far away from family. The first day they moved into their apartment, they met their neighbors, a young couple with a daughter. They all became quick friends. A couple months later, they invited Alice and her daughter to their daughter’s birthday at the park. When they arrived, they introduced Alice to the husband’s best friend since 6th grade, who was Art! They didn’t get to talk much, but the next time he came to Bakersfield to have dinner with them they invited Alice over and they spent the evening talking and had a great time. They were both too shy to exchange numbers, but the wife ended up exchanging numbers for them and the rest is history!
How Art Proposed
They had a national park road trip planned up north and Art proposed at Crater Lake National Park. They were hiking and he said they should stop near some rocks where they had a great view. While talking about Game of Thrones, Art made a joke about ‘bending the knee’ and then he literally bent the knee and proposed. Art also asked Alice’s daughter’s permission first before the trip and she did a great job of keeping it a secret for two days!
Alice and Art’s Olympic National Park Wedding
Technically, Alice and Art got married on January 20, 2020. This happened in their friends’ (the ones who introduced us) kitchen! They were anticipating having a destination wedding a couple months later in Canada at Banff National Park, but Covid ruined that plan. So it took some time to figure out what they wanted for their day. They knew they wanted a National Park and a trip involved. Art also really wanted to have their immediate families there. Ultimately, they decided on Olympic National Park! The three of us met early in the afternoon to drive up to Hurricane Ridge for photos of just Alice and Art. Then we came back to their AirBnb where their immediate families had set up some wedding decorations. They had their ceremony in the back of the AirBnb then celebrated afterwards! Congratulations Alice and Art!!
